Garden Creation

Here are pictures of one garden during its redevelopment.

This is the front garden of a classic Victorian villa. The house is double-fronted and elevated with views from the front rooms down on to the garden. The garden, despite being wider than the house on one side, reflects the house's symmetry successfully. This was a challenge.

In the first picture, you can see the distinct paint marks identifying the position for the edging bricks.

In the second photograph the bricks have been laid in position.

Dunolly gravel was laid where there had formerly been lawn. The clients didn't want to waste water on a lawn which would look dry and uninviting for much of the year. The gravel provides a porous surface but, unlike lawn, doesn't need watering! The soil has been spread. We now need mulch: an important feature to conserve water. The urns suit the style of house very well, with a suitably 'distressed' look.

In the last picture you can see the garden in autumn — a lovely space which enhances the house's gracious image.
